I Lost My Glow. Then I Learned How to Find It Again.

My skin started changing before pregnancy, when I hit my 30s. New breakouts in places I had never broken out before. A texture I didn’t recognise. A routine I had relied on for years that suddenly did nothing.

I started researching. Not casually, obsessively. I wanted to understand what was actually happening to my skin, not just find a product that might temporarily help. What I found changed the way I think about skincare entirely.

Skin doesn’t change randomly after 30. It changes in response to things: hormones, environment, stress, lifestyle. Once you know what drives the change, you can respond to it.

The Person Behind This

I’m Carolina, originally from Brazil. Work took me across four continents over the past decade, and at some point my skin broke down completely. I saw dermatologists, good ones, and spent thousands on treatments. Prescriptions, peels, lab treatments. Nothing worked for long. Most of it made things worse. So I stopped everything and started paying attention instead. One ingredient at a time. One product at a time. I tracked how my skin changed with every climate, every hormonal shift, every season: through pregnancy, postpartum, and more moves than I can count. Slowly, it all started to make sense.

What I have now is years of real data on my own skin, tested across climates and life stages that most routines were never designed for. That’s what this site is built on. Not trends, not theory, real experience, so you don’t have to start from scratch.

What This Site Is

Glow Protocol is an independent research and review site for women navigating real skin changes: after 30, after pregnancy, after hormonal shifts, or after a change in environment. Because your environment affects your skin more than most routines account for, and we are here to help you understand exactly what is happening and what to do about it.

We are not affiliated with any brand. We do not accept products in exchange for coverage. Every recommendation starts with the same question: what does the evidence actually support?

We read the clinical studies. We analyse ingredient concentrations and delivery mechanisms. We look at the research behind formulations, not the marketing around them. We test products against what the science says should work, and we tell you what we find in language that doesn’t require a dermatology degree to follow.

What We Believe

Your skin barrier is the foundation. Everything else is secondary.

A compromised barrier cannot respond to actives the way a healthy one can. Repair the foundation first. Everything else becomes more effective afterward.

Skin changes for reasons. Your job is to understand them.

If your skin suddenly changed, ask what else changed. Climate, hormones, stress, sleep, water quality. The skin doesn’t lie: it responds.

Know what works for your skin, and what works together.

Not every product that works on its own works in combination. Knowing which ingredients compound each other, and which ones cancel each other out, is the difference between a routine that actually delivers and one that spins its wheels.

Good information should be accessible.

Women navigating real skin changes deserve accurate information, not optimistic promises. We write for women who want to understand, not just be told what to buy.

Our Research Process

Every recommendation on Glow Protocol goes through the same process.

1. We start with the clinical evidence.
What do peer-reviewed studies actually show about this ingredient or formulation? We read the research, not the press release.

2. We analyse the formula.
Ingredient concentration, delivery mechanism, pH compatibility, and whether the actives are present at levels shown to be effective in the literature.

3. We cross-reference real-world results.
Thousands of verified reviews, filtered by skin type, age group, and concern, looking for patterns that match or conflict with the research.

4. We test where we can.
Products that make it through desk research are tested on real skin, over real time, in real conditions.

5. We tell you what we find.
Including when a highly-rated product didn’t perform, or when a budget option outperformed something three times the price.

How We Make Money

Glow Protocol uses Amazon affiliate links. When you purchase through our links, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

We only recommend products that pass our research process. Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial decisions: a product either meets our standard or it doesn’t.

We would rather recommend nothing than recommend something that doesn’t work. That’s the only way this site stays worth reading.
